Happy Winter!
Enjoy a little improvised crankie video from 2022. It snowed one day, so I had to go out and play in it. I decided to take a winter song by Schubert that I already knew and created an impromptu moving panorama to illustrate it. Then I built a little theater out of snow to perform it with. I hope it snows in Seattle again someday so I can do another one!
Coming in 2026: the next piece in the Shadow Bachs project
Bach's cantata BWV 209, Non sa che sia dolore
Johann Sebastian Bach only wrote two cantatas in Italian, and this is one of them. Shadow Bachs is Juliana Brandon's project to create puppet shows for all nine of Bach's solo soprano cantatas. Each show will be created, puppeteered and sung live by Juliana Brandon. This rendition of Non sa che sia dolore will be part of a larger art project called Sparrow's Descent that includes a collage series and a short book that questions why we may choose to incarnate and reincarnate onto such a challenging planet as earth.
